A restful development...

...that's two good to be true?

I am so grateful to give you 2 chances to soak up some deep rest this Thanksgiving holiday season. Plan to stay after a regularly scheduled class to relax and unwind with 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is the systematic surrender wherein your body gets to release multiple layers of tension while your mind stays tethered to a guide. This practice is the ultimate integration known as "yogi sleep".

The session will be $5, and there are 2 options to choose from:

You can stay after Stretch & Release class on Tuesday 11/22. The regular class time is 5:30 - 6:15 pm, and the nidra practice will be right after, from 6:15 to 6:45 pm. This will be the ultimate stretch & release! You can click here to sign up for Tues 11/22.

The other option is to stay after Yoga on Monday 11/28. The regular class time is Noon - 1 pm, and the nidra practice will be right after, from 1 to 1:30 pm. This will be an excellent post-Thanksgiving holiday combo class! You can click here to sign up for Mon 11/28.

You can never have too much rest!

I think Anna would agree. Who's Anna?, you wonder? Please allow me to introduce you to our Student Spotlight for November!

I love the way Anna shows up to practice (& workshops!) with such a great sense of humor, and I appreciate her willingness to ask questions/comments that deepen understanding. I am honored that she let me feature her in the spotlight. Read on for her thoughtful insights:

What is your favorite part of yoga?

"I have gained so much more than I ever thought possible. Aside from the fact that yoga is really good for your body and mind, it has given me a path to “stop and smell the roses.” "

How long have you been practicing with Monica?

"My yoga story started by taking a chance at something I’d read about but never taken the time to explore. One of my better decisions was to start my practice with Monica in 2015."

What is something yoga has helped you overcome?

"During a very personal loss in my life, my yoga practice and the camaraderie of the classes helped me “breathe” again. "

Do you have any words of advice to a brand new beginner?

"If you are looking to improve and elevate your self awareness, I would say - Hand Crafted Yoga with Monica is a great way to achieve your goals and feel good in body and spirit."

Thanks for sharing your practice with me, Anna. Cheers to taking chances on new things!

Speaking of taking chances on new things...

Have you been to the mini-workshop at the mirrors yet? Come on down this Friday, November 11th from Noon to 1pm for our once-a-month class: "Lights, Mirror, Action!"

Join me as we shed some light on common misalignments in posture practice…lights all the way up, looking into the mirror!!

Expect demonstrations, repetition, and personal adjustments as we shine some awareness on specific poses. This extra special mini-workshop is $15 per person.

Space is limited, so please pre-register by clicking here!

Weather or not, here we come!

Don't let an iffy forecast keep you from coming to our garden yoga class on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:25 pm! Our hill country oasis (Spring Creek Garden Center) is so accomodating, we'll be able to settle in somewhere.

That said, you may consider bringing a blanket to future classes. Since the time changed this weekend, the latter half of our class will be in "sunset mode". This could lend to a cooler temp as we move into final relaxation...perfect for snuggling up with a light cover.

If you'd like to purchase a blanket from Hand Craft Yoga, let me know with a reply to this email. I have several fun colors to choose from, and they're only $15 each.

Let me know that you plan to come out to Spring Creek Garden Center this Wednesday 11/9 by clicking the button below:

As always, thank you for reading. I look forward to seeing you soon.

With love,

Monica

I've been pondering... This picture is from our studio pond after class this past Saturday. It had me thinking... Even though the same growing conditions seem to be present(same water to grow in, same exposure to light, same fish mingling around the stems beneath the surface), each lily has its own timeline to bloom. Our human experience is no different. From the way we move our bodies, to what we enjoy about a book, to simply living daily life...this one-size-fits-all looks different for...

I've been reflecting... Every so often, I take a walk through the garden of my mind to check on the plants I've been growing. I enjoy revisiting my old journals, newsletters, and notepads to refresh my memory on the ideas I was trying to cultivate. Today, I read a newsletter from last April where I announced plans for upcoming retreats. Just for fun, stroll down memory lane with me... I copied and pasted the content below: "I have officially planted the seed for 2 big ideas: First, a 3-4 day...
