A bloomin' update

I've been pondering...

This picture is from our studio pond after class this past Saturday. It had me thinking...

Even though the same growing conditions seem to be present(same water to grow in, same exposure to light, same fish mingling around the stems beneath the surface), each lily has its own timeline to bloom.

Our human experience is no different. From the way we move our bodies, to what we enjoy about a book, to simply living daily life...this one-size-fits-all looks different for everybody.

So be gentle with yourself and be gentle with others. Whether you rise tall, stay close to the surface, or remain in your pod a while longer, try to remember to trust the process.

Speaking of reading books

Winnie has selected our next book for her book club! I'm happy to share that we will be reading "The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brené Brown. The tagline on the cover says it all: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are.

This one is a quick read at just 160 pages. Here's a summary from the web:

In this groundbreaking New York Times best seller, Dr. Brené Brown, a research professor and thought leader on vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame, shares ten guideposts on the power of Wholehearted living—a way of engaging with the world from a place of worthiness.

If you are interested in joining the book club, simply read the book! And SAVE THE DATE for the club meeting to talk about The Gifts of Imperfection on Thursday, May 9th from Noon to 1:45 pm.

See you at Spring Creek!

Join me at Spring Creek Garden Center this Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:25 pm for an all-level yoga class. If the weather permits, we will enjoy our practice outside on the lawn. Otherwise, we will take cover in the Gathering Haus. Sign up for class by clicking the button below:

Heads up!

Natural Bridge Caverns is hosting a neat event called "Cave Yoga" this Saturday, April 20, from 8-10 am. Here is the ad from the website (this link is also where to sign up):

Yoga underground? A sound bath in a cave?! I have to know what this is all about. So, I signed up to attend this Saturday. And I'd love to see you there!*

*To be clear, I am not teaching this class! I'll be a student, just like you. Let's practice yoga out in the wild together!

I look forward to seeing you soon.

With love,

Monica

Let's read into it The Cambridge Dictionary defines half-hearted as "showing no enthusiasm or interest, or a lack of commitment or effort." It defines wholehearted as "completely enthusiastic or interested in something or someone." As I'm reading Brené Brown's "The Gifts of Imperfection" for Winnie's Book Club, I'm reflecting fondly on a workshop I led back in November 2020. This workshop riffed off the "10 guideposts for wholehearted living" that Dr.Brown introduces in the book, and applies...

This Wednesday at Spring Creek Garden Center Bring a mat and come on out to enjoy an all-level Yoga class at Spring Creek Garden Center from 5:30 to 6:25 pm on 4/24. Most of the time, I head back to the studio for our 7 pm class. But this week, I'll be sticking around for a drink on the porch after class at the garden center. Yes, that means there will be no 7 pm class this week (4/24), but hopefully, you can join us for happy hour instead. Let me know you are coming by clicking the button...

I've been reflecting... Every so often, I take a walk through the garden of my mind to check on the plants I've been growing. I enjoy revisiting my old journals, newsletters, and notepads to refresh my memory on the ideas I was trying to cultivate. Today, I read a newsletter from last April where I announced plans for upcoming retreats. Just for fun, stroll down memory lane with me... I copied and pasted the content below: "I have officially planted the seed for 2 big ideas: First, a 3-4 day...
