Hi, I’m a creator

You might not know this about me...

But it's no secret:

I love to handcraft. Whether it's greeting cards, collages, poems, yoga...I am a big fan of using a variety of pieces to customize something into a new wholeness.

Sometimes people ask me why we are called "Hand Craft Yoga."

The obvious answer is this love of crafting with my hands. Putting things together, layer by layer, using various mediums and perspectives... letting the space get messy before it curates itself into order. When we give ourselves permission to create, magic happens.

The less obvious answer is that we engage with the same process every time we unroll our yoga mats and connect with our breath. By consistently constructing and deconstructing different shapes and responding to the moment while listening to our bodies, we handcraft our yoga.

It doesn't look the same for everyone, but everyone has the same permission: listen to your breath, connect to your intuition, and see what happens... today. Like a child at play, try it without expectation, without judgment, without comparison. Let it be fun!

Come play at the garden center this week!

Perhaps you can join me for Yoga at Spring Creek Garden Center this Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:25 pm? Wine/beer will be available to purchase for 30 minutes after class.

Since this week is the last of the month (how is that possible?!), I plan to chill for a moment with a glass of wine. So, there will be no 7 pm class this Wednesday, 3/27.

Can you join us? Let me know you're coming by clicking the photo below:

Make a note in your schedule

Our once-a-month Saturday class will skip a weekend and be on April 13th next month (not April 6th). As the heart of Texas prepares to experience a once-in-a-lifetime event, the hill country is forecasted to be packed with travelers looking to have a totality awesome view of the solar eclipse.

It is with this in mind that I've decided to cancel our Noon class on Monday, April 8th. Maybe you can change up your routine and join me for our evening class instead? Plan to come on over for Yoga Basics from 7 to 7:45 pm on 4/8/24.

Meanwhile, we'll be adding lots of neck stretching to our classes for the next 2 weeks🤣. In case you can't make it, here's a simple sequence you can work with at home:

It may be funny, but I'm not joking. Prepare yourself!

I look forward to seeing you soon...

With love,

Monica

I've been pondering... This picture is from our studio pond after class this past Saturday. It had me thinking... Even though the same growing conditions seem to be present(same water to grow in, same exposure to light, same fish mingling around the stems beneath the surface), each lily has its own timeline to bloom. Our human experience is no different. From the way we move our bodies, to what we enjoy about a book, to simply living daily life...this one-size-fits-all looks different for...

I've been reflecting... Every so often, I take a walk through the garden of my mind to check on the plants I've been growing. I enjoy revisiting my old journals, newsletters, and notepads to refresh my memory on the ideas I was trying to cultivate. Today, I read a newsletter from last April where I announced plans for upcoming retreats. Just for fun, stroll down memory lane with me... I copied and pasted the content below: "I have officially planted the seed for 2 big ideas: First, a 3-4 day...
